Marco is a platform where businesses create community pages to connect with local customers. This service verifies that the person claiming a business page is the legitimate owner or authorized operator of that business.
How it works
Business owner initiates verification
From the Marco app, a user who wants to claim a business page taps "Verify my business" and is directed to this web portal to complete the process. Note: Marco is currently in private beta.
Business information and documents submitted
The applicant enters their legal business name, address, owner name, and uploads a supporting document such as a business license or state filing.
Business phone verified via SMS or voice call
The applicant enters their business phone number. A 6-digit verification code is sent via SMS, or read aloud via an automated voice call for businesses that use a landline. The applicant enters the code to confirm they control that phone line. Codes expire after 10 minutes.
Verification decision issued
The submitted information is reviewed automatically. If approved, the business page on Marco receives a verified badge. If additional review is needed, the Marco team is notified.
How phone verification is used
Phone verification is used solely to confirm that the applicant controls the business phone number they have submitted. The applicant explicitly provides their number and requests the code — no unsolicited messages are ever sent.
